Performance Matters in Prolog Applications!

Vítor Santos Costa
COPPE/Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro

We discuss Prolog applications in the areas of Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing. Throughout we focus on performance issues. We show that indexing and good data-base support is fundamental for some of the applications. We also discuss the impact of specialised execution strategies, such as tabling, for these applications.
