Aims and Scope

This workshop will give researchers working in Natural Language processing and Information Retrieval the opportunity to present and to discuss current developments and applications.

The workshop will consist of an invited talk, oral presentations and poster sessions. The best accepted papers will appear in the proceedings published by Springer in the LNAI series. The remaining accepted papers and the posters will have a one page abstract in the same proceedings book and will appear in their entirety in locally-published proceedings.

The workshop is sponsored by APPIA, the Portuguese Association for Artificial Intelligence. It will be part of a set of Workshops that, together, will constitute the Portuguese Conference on Artifical Intelligence (EPIA'03).




General topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
  • Natural Language Processing and Information Retrieval Applications
  • Evaluation of systems and evaluation methodology
  • Language-oriented information retrieval, question answering, summarization and information extraction
  • Machine Translation.
  • Natural language interfaces and dialogue systems
  • Ontology-Based Information Retrieval
  • Pragmatics, discourse, semantics, syntax and the lexicon
  • Speech Processing
  • Web Information Retrieval

Submission Instructions

Submissions must follow the guidelines specified in the main web page of the conference (see http://www.di.uevora.pt/epia03/). In particular, the reviewing process is double blind. Authors should remove names from the submitted papers, and should take reasonable care that their identity is disguised. References to own work can be included in the paper, but should be referred to in in the third person.

Authors should also prepare their submissions according with the instructions given given by Springer-Verlag in
http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html/

Even if the submissions can be made in PDF (preferable) or PS, we encourage authors to prepare their papers in TeX or LATEX 2e because this will be the only acceptable source formats for the camera ready final versions.
